Blocks & Fields

The Case Summary section in Case Overview stores key client and case details. Along with the default tabs (Client, Case Details, Insurance), your firm can create custom tabs to capture additional information tailored to your workflow.

Updated over 2 months ago

Custom Case Summary Sections are created in Settings → Blocks & Fields and will automatically appear as new tabs within the Case Summary card.

Why Create Custom Case Summary Tabs?

Every firm tracks different information. Custom tabs allow you to standardize data collection across all cases.

Examples include:

  • Lien tracking information

  • Settlement strategy notes

  • Intake-specific questions

  • Policy details

  • Litigation milestones

  • Firm-specific internal fields

Once created, these sections appear directly inside each case under the Case Summary card.

Where to Create Custom Sections

  1. Click your profile icon.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Under the Organization section, select Blocks & Fields.

You will see the Case Blocks panel.

Step-by-Step: Create a Custom Case Summary Tab

Step 1: Add a New Block

Blocks are the containers that become tabs in the Case Summary section.

  1. In Blocks & Fields, click + Add Block.

  2. Enter a Block Name (this will become the tab name).

    • Example: Firm’s Custom Info

  3. Click Create Block.

The new block will now appear in your Case Blocks list.

Step 2: Add Fields to the Block

Fields are the individual data points stored inside the tab.

  1. Inside your newly created block, click + Add Field.

  2. Enter the following:

    • Field Name
(Example: Policy Number, Settlement Target, Lien Holder)

    • Description (for AI intake)
This helps the AI understand how to identify or populate the field from uploaded documents.

    • Field Type
      Choose from:

      • Text

      • Text Area

      • Number

      • Date

      • Date & Time

      • Checkbox

      • Single Select

      • Multi Select

  3. Save the field.

You may add multiple fields to a single block (up to 50 fields per block).

How It Appears in the Case Overview

Once a block is created:

  • It automatically becomes a new tab inside the Case Summary card.

  • You can click the new tab to view and edit the custom fields.

  • Each case will now include this section.

For example:

Before customization:

  • Client

  • Case Details

  • Insurance

After adding a block:

  • Client

  • Case Details

  • Insurance

  • Firm’s Custom Info (new tab)

Important Notes

  • Blocks appear as sections in Build Case and as tabs in Case Overview.

  • Organization accounts are limited to 20 blocks per account.

  • Each block can contain up to 50 unique fields.

  • Fields are case-specific and stored with that individual matter.

Best Practices

  • Keep naming conventions consistent across your firm.

  • Use clear field descriptions to improve AI intake accuracy.

  • Create standardized fields to reduce missing information.

  • Review your blocks periodically to remove unused sections.

Summary

Custom Case Summary Sections allow your firm to tailor ProPlaintiff.ai to your exact workflow. By creating Blocks and Fields in Settings, you can add new tabs to the Case Overview that capture the data your team relies on most.

This flexibility ensures every case contains structured, searchable, and standardized information aligned with your firm’s internal processes.
