Where to Find Cases
Log in to ProPlaintiff.ai.
From the Main Navigation, select Cases.
From here, you can create or import cases and manage how your case list is organized.
Ways to Create or Import a Case
There are four ways to bring a case into ProPlaintiff:
Ask Tiff to create a new case for you.
Select New Case → Create New Case to create a case manually.
Select New Case → Import from V2 to migrate cases from ProPlaintiff Classic.
Select New Case → Connect a provider to migrate cases from a supported third-party practice management platform.
Create a Case with Tiff
The fastest way to create a case is to simply ask Tiff.
Navigate to Ask Tiff from the Main Navigation.
Tell Tiff you would like to create a new case.
Provide the case information you have available.
For example:
“Create me a new case for John V Smith.”
Tiff will create the case and confirm when it is ready.
Depending on the information you provide, Tiff may ask clarifying questions or suggest next steps, such as adding incident, insurance, or contact information, setting deadlines, or uploading initial records.
Alternatively, once Tiff creates the case, you can navigate to Cases, locate and open the new case. Opening the case will take you to the Case Overview, where you can continue adding and managing case information.
Tip: You don't need to provide every case detail in your initial request. Start with the information you have, and Tiff can help you continue building the case from there.
Create a Case from the Cases Page
You can also create a case using the traditional workflow from the Cases page.
Navigate to Main Navigation → Cases.
Click New Case in the upper-right corner.
Select Create New Case.
Complete the case creation fields.
Create the case.
Once created, the new matter will appear in your Cases list.
Importing Cases from ProPlaintiff V2
ProPlaintiff V2, also known as ProPlaintiff Classic, was phased out on August 31, 2026.
If you still have cases in V2 that need to be moved into the current version of ProPlaintiff, you can import them directly from the Cases page.
To import cases from V2:
Navigate to Main Navigation → Cases.
Click New Case in the upper-right corner.
Under Import Cases, select Import from V2.
Follow the prompts to select and import your cases.
This allows you to bring your existing V2 cases into the current version of ProPlaintiff without recreating them manually.
Importing Cases from a Third-Party Provider
If your firm is migrating to ProPlaintiff from another practice management platform, you can connect a supported provider and import data into ProPlaintiff.
Currently available Data Migration providers include:
Clio – Sync matters, documents, time entries, expenses, notes, and tasks
MyCase – Migrate matters and documents
Filevine – Sync projects into ProPlaintiff
CasePeer – Migrate matters and documents
PracticePanther – Migrate matters and time entries
SmartAdvocate – Migrate cases and documents
The information available for migration varies by provider.
Understanding the Cases View
The Cases page provides a centralized view of your matters and tools for controlling how they are organized and displayed.
At the top of the page, you can quickly switch between:
All
Open
Active
Settled
Archived
This gives you a quick way to narrow the case list based on the current state of the matter.
Grouping Cases
Cases can be grouped together to make larger case lists easier to navigate.
For example, when the view is grouped by Type, cases are organized into groups such as:
Car Accidents
Uncategorized
Assault and Battery
Debt Collection
Motor Vehicle Accident
Motor Vehicle Collision
Pedestrian Accidents
Select the arrow next to a group to expand or collapse the cases within it.
Search for a Case
Use the Search icon in the upper-right area of the Cases page to locate a specific case.
This provides a faster way to find a matter without manually browsing through your case groups.
Filter Cases
Select the Filter icon to narrow which cases appear in your current view.
Available filtering options include:
Only my cases
Assignee
Status
Labels
Case type
Include archived
The Filters side panel also provides options for reviewing cases by Status, Labels, Assignee, and Type.
Use Clear Filters to remove your current filters and return to the broader case view.
Display Options
Use the Display Options control to customize how your Cases page is organized.
Grouping
Choose how cases should be grouped in the list.
For example, selecting Type groups your matters by Case Type.
Ordering
Choose how your case groups or cases should be ordered.
Show Empty Groups
Turn Show Empty Groups on or off depending on whether you want groups with no cases to remain visible.
Display Properties
Choose which case information you want displayed within the list.
Available properties shown include:
Status
Type
Client
Assignee
Labels
DOI
SOL
Updated
This allows each user to customize the Cases view around the information most relevant to their workflow.
Insights
Select the Insights icon to analyze the cases in your current view.
The Insights panel provides a snapshot of your case list, including:
Total number of cases
Open and archived case counts
Cases by status
Cases by assignee
Cases by type
A visual chart also provides a breakdown of cases by status.
Insights analyzes the current case view, allowing you to quickly understand how the cases you are viewing are distributed across your firm.
Show or Hide the Side Panel
The Cases page includes a side panel used for tools such as Filters and Insights.
Use the side panel control in the upper-right toolbar to display or hide this panel.
Hiding the panel gives you additional space for viewing and working with your case list.
Fields (see Blocks & Fields article)
Select Fields in the upper-right corner of the Cases page for quick access to your organization's custom case fields.
These fields allow your firm to customize the information it captures and tracks for its cases.
For more information about creating and managing custom fields, see the Blocks & Fields article.
Summary
The Cases page is your workspace for creating, importing, finding, and organizing cases in ProPlaintiff.ai.
You can ask Tiff to create a case, create one manually from the New Case menu, import existing cases from ProPlaintiff V2, or migrate cases and supported data from a connected third-party practice management provider.
Once cases are in ProPlaintiff, use Search, Filters, Grouping, Display Options, Insights, the side panel, and custom Fields to organize your case list and quickly find the matters and information you need.
